United Brethren Churches of North America
The Church of the United Brethren in Christ is a conservative evangelical denomination consisting of 159 churches in the United States, 12 churches in Canada, and more than 360 churches among Sierra Leone, Jamaica, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Macau, Thailand, Costa Rica, Haiti, Guatemala, Liberia, France, and Germany.
We were founded in 1800 in Frederick, Maryland, but trace our roots to a meeting at the Isaac Long barn in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1767. The Church of the United Brethren in Christ is the first denomination to begin in America. Other denominations existed at the time, but they were transplanted from Europe.
The US National Office is located in Huntington, Indiana. The United Brethren church, USA, owns Huntington University, a Christian liberal arts school with about 1200 students. It is also located in Huntington.
